Kid Shapers & Active Kids is a research-based, public health organization of San Diego State University Research Foundation (disseminated by School Specialty, Inc.) dedicated to creating, implementing, and evaluating programmes that promote lifelong wellness. We strive to improve the health of children, adolescents, and adults by disseminating evidence-based Physical Education, After School, Early Childhood, and Coordinated School Health programmes to teachers and recreation leaders serving Pre-K through 12th grade students. Each programme provides a coordinated package of highly active curriculum, on-site staff development, extensive follow-up support, and expert selected, content-matched equipment.
The concept of first spark was brought to light by Mr. Rajiv Singh Kumar. He was chosen by Tata to sway India’s flag at the 1994 Asian Junior Athletics Championships and he kept our heads high with a gold medal in discuss throw. He carried this passion for sports and believed that sports had a much greater purpose than just fitness. We hold this ideology close to our hearts and follow the path enlightened to us by him. Today first spark is enhancing the education system by making kids mentally and physically capable to perform under any rugged situation. The initiative is making sure that the country’s future is ready for any challenge thrown at them. In 2010, from covering just 3 schools, we have spread our wings to 134 schools and counting. This has been proof enough to talk about the success of our ideology.
